iPad and Android

The family board in your kitchen.

Stand the tablet in the kitchen or hang it on the wall – an iPad or an Android tablet. With one tap it shows the day, dinner, the shopping list and where everyone is – so the whole family can see it, without anyone having to tap.

  • Full screen with one tap

Tap the full-screen button on Home. The board shows the clock, what's next, today's timeline, dinner, the shopping list, the family and tomorrow.

  • Keeps itself up to date

The countdown, what's happening now and where the family is update all the time. The screen stays on, and items are ticked off right on the board.

  • Follows the time of day

Warm colours in the morning, a sunset in the evening and dimmed at night – so the board doesn't light up the kitchen.

  • The whole app on a tablet

Landscape or portrait, with the day and the family side by side. Open a list and your lists stay on the left with the items on the right.

The same app as on your phone, at no extra cost. Requires iPadOS 18 or Android 10 or later.

On the board

Everything the family wonders about, at a glance.

The board shows what the account on the tablet can see, and it updates by itself.

  • The clock and the day

A big clock, the date and a greeting for the time of day – and the family's name.

  • Up next and happening now

A countdown to the next event, and what's happening right now with how long is left.

  • Today

Today's events as a timeline, with a marker for where you are in the day.

  • Dinner

What's for dinner and who's cooking – and Start cooking when the dish has a recipe.

  • To buy

What needs buying, with anything urgent first. Tick items off right on the board – and tap Show all when there are more than six.

  • Family right now

Who's sharing their location, who's on the way and when they're expected to arrive.

  • Living arrangements

Where everyone is living today, when you have a living schedule.

  • Tomorrow

Tomorrow's events and dinner, so nobody is caught by surprise.

  • A page per person

Swipe sideways to your own page: your day, your chores to tick off and what's left on your lists.

Family Mode

A locked family board in the kitchen.

Family Mode turns the tablet in the kitchen into a locked family board: it stays on the board, and everyone in the family can use it without getting into the rest of the app. Only owners and adults can turn it on, and only on a tablet with a screen lock. Family Mode is free.

  • Stays on the board

The app always starts on the board with the pages per person – no tabs and no close button, even after a restart.

  • Everyone can tick off

Everyone ticks off chores and items – on the board and on their own pages – with the account signed in on the tablet.

  • Add item

Tap the plus button on the shopping card, type the item and tap Add. The card expands so the new one shows.

  • Only lists for the whole family

Lists for selected people, like the Christmas present list, aren't shown – not on the board or on the pages per person.

  • No notifications

The tablet doesn't receive notifications while Family Mode is on, and links and invites don't open there.

  • Left with the passcode

Leave Family Mode with Face ID, Touch ID, a fingerprint or the tablet's passcode. Signing out – also from your phone – ends it too.

Want it locked down further? On iPad, with Guided Access under Settings → Accessibility, the app can't be left either, and on Android you can tick Pin the app to the screen when you turn on Family Mode. Family Mode protects against mistakes – not against someone who knows the tablet's passcode.

The whole app

Made for the big screen.

Your phone and your tablet share the same app – on iPhone and iPad, and on Android. On a tablet it uses the width, in landscape or portrait.

  • Home in two columns

Today's events, dinner and the shopping list on the left – the family and trips on the right.

  • Lists beside the items

Open a list, and your lists stay on the left with the items on the right.

  • A calendar with room for more

The calendar on the left, and New event and calendar integration on the right.

  • The whole school week

The school schedule shows the whole week at once, instead of two days as on the phone.

  • The map and the family

On the Location tab, the map is on the left and the family on the right.

  • The week's dinners

The week on the left, and the button for the ingredients to the shopping list on the right.

  • The cookbook beside the recipe

Open a recipe in the cookbook and it appears alongside – just like lists and their items. In cooking mode the ingredients sit beside the steps.

  • Keyboard shortcuts

⌘1–⌘5 switch tabs in tab order. ⌘N adds a new item, ⌘⇧N a new event and ⌘F searches the cookbook and contacts. On Android, use Ctrl instead of ⌘.

  • Drag, drop and right-click

Drag an item to another list or a dish to another day – on iPad, a recipe from the cookbook too. The same moves, and everything you can swipe, are in the menu with a long press or a right-click.

Step by step

How to make your tablet the family board.

  • Start the board

    1. Get Peepz for the tablet – from the App Store for an iPad, from Google Play for an Android tablet – and sign in.
    2. Open Home.
    3. Tap the full-screen button at the top right, next to the bell for notifications and your picture.
    4. Close the board with the button furthest to the right.

The full-screen button shows when Home has two columns – not in Split View, in a narrow window or on an iPad mini in portrait.

  • Choose where the board goes

    1. Keep in mind that the board shows what the account on the tablet can see – including where those sharing their location are.
    2. Put the tablet somewhere you're comfortable with that, ideally with the charger plugged in.
    3. The screen stays on while the board is showing and dims at night.
  • Tick off chores on the board

    1. Swipe sideways from the board to your page, or tap your picture in the row of pages – at the top in landscape, at the bottom in portrait.
    2. Tap a chore under Chores to tick it off. Under When needed, tap Done.
    3. Tapped the wrong one? Tap Undo, or tap the chore once more.

The tick and the points go to the person whose page it is. It works on everyone's page when an adult is signed in on the tablet.

  • Turn Family Mode on and leave it

    1. Open the board with the full-screen button on Home, signed in as an owner or adult. The tablet needs a screen lock.
    2. Tap the lock at the top right, next to the close button.
    3. Tap Turn On in the Family Mode dialog. If you're sharing your location or on a trip, that ends. On Android, you can tick Pin the app to the screen first.
    4. To leave: tap the lock at the top right – Leave Family Mode – and unlock with Face ID, Touch ID, a fingerprint or the tablet's passcode.

Signing out ends Family Mode too – from your phone: tap your picture, choose Devices and tap Sign out next to the tablet.

Questions about Peepz on a tablet

There are more answers on the Help page, or email us at hej@peepz.se.

Does the tablet app cost extra?

No. Your phone and your tablet share the same app, and Premium applies to the family – whichever devices you use. Peepz requires iPadOS 18 on iPad and Android 10 or later on an Android tablet.

Can a tablet in the kitchen show the family's day all the time?

Yes. Tap the full-screen button at the top right of Home and your tablet becomes a board with today's events, dinner, the shopping list and where the family is. The screen stays on while the board is showing, and items can be ticked off right on it.

Can everyone in the family tick off their chores on the kitchen tablet?

Yes. Next to the board there's a page per person: swipe sideways, or tap your picture in the row of pages. Your chores are there, and a tick is yours – the points too. It works when an adult is signed in on the tablet. If a child is signed in, chores can only be ticked off on the child's own page.

Why can't I see the full-screen button?

The button shows when Home has two columns. Turn the tablet to landscape, or close Split View. There's no board on a phone.

Who sees what on the board?

The board shows what the account on the tablet can see – including where those sharing their location are. The same goes for the pages per person: they only show what the account on the tablet can see. In Family Mode, only lists for the whole family are shown. Put it somewhere you're comfortable with that.

Why does Family Mode need a screen lock?

Family Mode is left with Face ID, Touch ID, a fingerprint or the tablet's passcode. Without a screen lock anyone could leave it, so it can't be turned on – the board works as usual. Family Mode protects against mistakes, not against someone who knows the tablet's passcode.

Does the tablet get notifications in Family Mode?

No. While Family Mode is on, the tablet doesn't receive any notifications – not even emergency alerts – and any already showing are cleared. Links and invites don't open there either. The family's phones get notifications as usual, and the tablet gets them again when you leave Family Mode.
