Safety

Peace of mind – without anyone being watched.

Location sharing, Companion and the emergency alert are there when you need them. The person sharing starts everything, everything is clearly visible, and everything can be turned off with one tap. We don't keep any location history.

Location sharing

Share your location – for a while.

Turn on Share my location on the Location tab and choose how long. Your family sees you on the map, and sharing stops by itself.

  • 15 minutes or an hour

Free for everyone. With Premium also the rest of the day or until you turn it off.

  • At home, At work, At school

Your family sees the street you're on – or At home, At work and At school when you're near a saved place. At one of the family places, like Grandma's or the shop, they see the place's name.

  • Only the latest position

No history. The position is deleted when you stop sharing.

  • Precise or approximate

Peepz follows your phone's Precise Location setting. An approximate location is rounded to about a kilometre.

CompanionPremium

Follow the trip home – from afar.

Say where you're going and who should follow along. They see the route and when you're expected to arrive – and hear if the trip is taking longer than expected.

  • Where are you going?

Choose Home, Work or School, one of the family places or a recent one – or search for an address. The people following see where the trip is going: On the way home · At Dad's.

  • Walking, bike, car or transit

Peepz works out the travel time and shows when you'll arrive.

  • You choose who follows

Everyone who can follow trips is selected from the start. Tap away anyone who shouldn't see the trip.

  • A heads-up if you're late

If the trip takes clearly longer than expected, the people following get a notification – once per trip.

  • Arrival detected automatically

The trip ends when you arrive, and the people following are told. Or tap I've arrived.

  • On the Lock Screen

Your trip as a Live Activity on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island.

Emergency alertAlways free

One tap when it really matters.

The emergency alert shows your family who needs help and where – and you see who has seen it. It's always free, for everyone in the family.

  • One tap and a confirmation

Tap SOS — I need help on the Location tab, and then Send.

  • Your family sees where

The adults in the family get a notification and see your location on a map – with directions and a button to call you.

  • You see who has seen it

When someone taps I've seen the alert, you see it straight away.

  • Only you can end it

End it with I'm okay – or It was a mistake. Your family sees that the alert is over.

The emergency alert reaches your family, not the emergency services. If you are in immediate danger, call 112.

Who sees what

Just the right amount for everyone.

The role decides what each person sees from the start. The owner can fine-tune it per person, and adults can fine-tune it for the children.

  • Owner and adults

See shared locations, follow trips and receive emergency alerts. Can share their location, start trips and raise an alert.

  • Children with their own account

See shared locations and can follow trips. Share their location and start trips only once an adult has turned it on. Don't receive alerts by default.

  • Members

Grandparents or the babysitter can share their location, start trips and raise an alert – but don't see other people's location or alerts unless the owner turns it on.

  • Children without a phone

Have no location and no alerts, but are part of the calendar, the meal planner and the living schedule.

What's stored – and what isn't.

Location is about as personal as it gets. That's why Peepz knows as little as possible about where you are, and forgets it quickly.

  • No location historyOnly the latest position is stored, and only while you share.
  • Deleted when you stopThe position is deleted when sharing stops. During an alert, the position is kept for 7 days.
  • Notifications without locationsNotifications never say where anyone is and contain no addresses.
  • Only while using the appPeepz asks for location While Using the App – never Always.
  • Just for the familyYour location is visible to your family, and only to those allowed to see it.
  • Stored in SwedenEverything is kept on servers in Sweden.

Step by step

How to do it in the app.

Everything about location and safety is on the Location tab. There are more guides on the Help page.

  • Share your location

    1. Open the Location tab.
    2. Turn on Share my location.
    3. Choose how long: 15 minutes, 1 hour, Rest of the day or Until I turn it off.
    4. Turn the switch off when you want to stop – it takes effect straight away.
  • Let the family follow a trip Premium

    1. Tap Tell them where you're going on the Location tab.
    2. Choose a destination under My places, Family places or Recent – or search for an address.
    3. Choose a travel mode and who should follow under Who should follow?
    4. Tap Start trip.

Say “I'm going home in Peepz” to Siri, and the trip opens with Home chosen. You start it yourself.

  • Send an emergency alert

    1. Tap SOS — I need help on the Location tab.
    2. Tap Send.
    3. Call or text as well, if you can. If you are in immediate danger, call 112.
    4. End it with End → I'm okay – end it.
  • Turn on location for a child

    1. Open the Family tab and tap the child.
    2. Tap Permissions.
    3. Turn on Share their location and Start Companion trips under Location and safety.

This is the guardian's consent, and it's saved in the family's security log. After that, the child starts and stops sharing themselves.

Questions about location and safety

There are more answers on the Help page, or email us at hej@peepz.se.

Can my family see where I am all the time?

No. Your location is only shared when you turn it on yourself, only with your family and only for as long as you've chosen. The member role – for example Grandma or the babysitter – doesn't see shared locations unless the family's owner turns it on.

Does the emergency alert replace 112?

No. The emergency alert reaches your family, not the emergency services, and it needs an internet connection. If you are in immediate danger, call 112.

Do we get a notification when someone gets home?

Only when someone travels with Companion. Then the people following the trip are told when the person has arrived. Otherwise Peepz doesn't keep track of when anyone comes or goes.

Who can see the family places?

Everyone in the family. The places appear as quick picks in Where are you going?, and the status shows the place's name when someone is there. The owner and adults add them: tap the pencil on the Family tab and then Add a place under Family places, search for the address, choose it in the list, enter a name and tap Save. The family can have up to 20 places. The notifications your family gets never say the place's name.

Can children send an emergency alert?

Yes. Everyone who can sign in to Peepz can raise an alert, and that can't be turned off. The alert reaches the owner and the adults in the family.

What happens if the phone has no signal?

An emergency alert keeps trying to send every three seconds until it gets through – call or text your family in the meantime. During a trip, the people following see that the position hasn't updated for a while.

Can I raise an alert from Apple Watch?

No, the emergency alert is sent from iPhone. The watch shows when someone in the family raises an alert, and that your own alert is active.

What do location sharing and the emergency alert cost?

The emergency alert is always free, and so is sharing your location for 15 minutes or an hour. Longer sharing and Companion are part of Peepz Premium.
